Finally after years of attending various Fashion Weeks and doing Christian fashion shows for churches and ministries the dream of having our own Christian Fashion Week is becoming a reality. We just confirmed our venue, and the first set of emails to designers, vendors and other participants will be going out this week. A lot of time and dedication has been put into this project and we're all super excited to see it come alive.
Throughout the years of being in the fashion industry as a model I realized that fashion doesn't really care about what offends people. They'll send a model walking down the runway half naked for the sake of "fashion". Now those same designers are being challenged by us…the Christian fashion community. That's right we are challenging all fashion designers to have the courage to create for us with with God as their inspiration.
When we got the idea of a Christian Fashion week it became apparent that there weren't enough Christian Designers out there. Months went by and there were so few that we prayed and decided "Why don't we ask all types of designers to create fashions for us?" To create things that are wholesome and beautiful. The world doesn't need to see half naked women walking down a runway….I'm sure they've seen enough. The world needs to see strong beautiful women removing themselves as sex objects and being examples for the next generation.
We are here to redefine beauty in the fashion industry, to let people know that modesty is the outward expression of inner purity and that following Christ is anything but boring….just like the fashion world. Christian Fashion Week will be the place where fashion meets faith and you can BE a model, not just look like one. I hope you all follow us on this journey….I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
